Black Rewarewa On White 10cm Bowl

I am interested in the medicinal properties of plants, especially as they have been used by indigenous peoples around the world. In this series I am exploring Maori use of plants endemic to New Zealand. This porcelain bowl features a drawing of a Rewarewa which is the Maori name for New Zealand Honeysuckle. Medicinally it has been used as a bandage and to stem bloodflow from cuts. The honey produced from the tree is said to have a rich caramel-like taste.

Technical information:

Made from white porcelain, inside semi-gloss clear glaze with decal and unglazed outside.
Size 10cm diameter x 2.8cm high ˑ each piece comes boxed with an image of the design on the lid.
These pieces feature irregularities in both shape and form; this is part of the organic nature of the collection.
Designed in New Zealand by Jo Luping.
