HAUS
HAUS is inspired by the Bauhaus, an art school founded in 1919 in Germany. The maxim of the school was to create useful and beautiful objects. The emphasis was on both craft while stressing the importance of “art into industry”. It was shaped by the 19th and early 20th century trends such as the Arts and Crafts movement, which had sought to level the distinction between fine and applied arts, and to reunite creativity and manufacturing.
HAUS is also the German word for house and plays on the idea of the house being a place that people congregate and collaborate.
HAUS is a collaboration between artists, designers, craft and industry to create useful and beautiful objects.
This collection is in collaboration with New Zealand artists Shane Hansen and Philippa Bentley
